We are working towards a healthy, sustainable and fair food system. Where innovation, transparency and cooperation between businesses, governments and citizens ensure a food system that contributes to healthy people and a healthy world.

We support companies in the agri-food chain and (regional and national) governments in developing and promoting a sustainable and healthy food supply. Through strategy, policy, communication, food innovation and the promotion of cooperation, we are accelerating the food transition, contributing to a better supply and making it easier for consumers to choose sustainable and healthy food.

Together with companies, retailers, governments and social organisations, we work on sustainable solutions for the protein transition, CO2 reduction, organic food, Nutri-Score, quality labels, food waste and true pricing.

A MORE SUSTAINABLE AND HEALTHIER FOOD SYSTEM

For thirty years, we have been contributing to a more sustainable and healthier food system with our advisory and communication work. A good example is PLUS, which has been named the most responsible supermarket by the GfK consumer panel for eight years running because of its sustainability strategy. We are also proud of the increase in products with (Top) quality marks such as On the way to Planet Proof, organic and FairTrade, including for dairy, meat, bananas and coffee. We have also helped local authorities with their ambitious local food strategies. In addition, we are proud to fulfil our coordinating role in encouraging the food industry to work towards a healthier composition of their products. We have also collaborated on more than twenty dossiers for the safety assessment of new foods, a crucial step in actually being able to introduce them to the market.

Future dream

By 2050, the food system will be healthy, sustainable and fair. We will eat more plant-based, organic and local food, with less waste and at fair prices. Clear consumer information, animal-friendly livestock farming and fossil-free, recyclable packaging will be the norm. Thanks to innovations, the range of products on offer will be more responsible and available and accessible to everyone.
