Sustainable packaging

The upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) imposes stricter requirements on packaging in terms of reusability, recyclability and material use. Packaging is also a potential material topic for the Corporate Social Responsibility Directive, which requires companies to actively pursue packaging policies. At the same time, the tariff differentiation system offers companies the opportunity to save costs by opting for more sustainable packaging solutions. Many companies are struggling to translate new regulations into practice. What does the PPWR mean in concrete terms for the current packaging range? How can you take advantage of the opportunities offered by tariff differentiation? What data is needed to make informed choices? And how can you ensure that policy is not just on paper, but is also supported and implemented?

What we do

We assist companies in making their packaging more sustainable by drawing up a packaging strategy, complying with legislation and making the most sustainable choice, in line with the organisation's objectives. In this way, we work towards circular packaging, with minimal CO2 emissions and lower costs.

To achieve this, we offer the following services, among others:

  1. A PPWR scan of your product range: Together, we take stock of the packaging portfolio, check compliance with the PPWR and identify the risks and opportunities. We conclude the process with an interactive session to reflect on the findings together.
  2. Step-by-step development of a packaging policy for your organisation: Depending on the availability of data, we analyse it to identify a baseline and determine where opportunities lie. We then set SMART goals and formulate an action plan. To activate internal and external stakeholders, we create a communicative image of this policy.
  3. Rate differentiation 2.0: To see what opportunities rate differentiation offers your organisation, we work with you to take stock of the packaging data available and then determine the scope of the analysis. Based on desk research, samples and specifications, we examine the properties of the packaging and assess them based on the requirements for tariff differentiation 2.0. We then document this in such a way that you can use it again next year for your tax return. This gives you immediate insight into your savings opportunities and sustainability options within your portfolio.

Our impact

We previously drew up a strategic packaging policy for PLUS and created a packaging vision for HAK in which we identified the opportunities and risks of current and future legislation and regulations. In addition, we have been handling communications for Metalen Verpakkingen Nederland for many years.
