PLUS’ distinctive CSR positioning

PLUS has been the Most Responsible Supermarket of the Netherlands for six years in a row. With more than 250 branches throughout the Netherlands, this supermarket chain is committed to a responsible and healthy assortment. They want to continue to distinguish themselves in the retail landscape in CSR and sustainability.

Our approach

We have been working with PLUS for nine years. We assisted PLUS in setting up the CSR policy and the associated objectives and strategy and have been realising this policy together since then. By working one day a week at PLUS on location, we assist hands-on in its implementation.

Together with the people of PLUS, we engage in numerous activities: writing the sustainability chapter of the CSR report, organising internal sustainability trainings, and giving advice in areas such as packaging, food waste and environment. Together we additionally organise team meetings and stakeholder meetings with PLUS.

Most responsible supermarket

PLUS's responsible policy is bearing fruit. Not only has PLUS been the Most Responsible Supermarket in the Netherlands for six years in a row, they are also leader in Fairtrade certified products. All bananas and all private label coffee, tea and chocolate are Fairtrade. PLUS works continuously to further increase their responsible and healthy assortment. With their know-the-chain approach, PLUS aims to create a positive impact for producers and employees within their supply chains. Importantly, all PLUS supermarkets are climate neutral.
