Building blocks for future-proof care

We showed how knowledge networks improve collaboration, knowledge sharing, and care quality for complex target groups. We provided ZonMw and the Ministry of Health with actionable recommendations to remove barriers and strengthen the knowledge infrastructure, laying the foundation for a sustainable follow-up program that ensures accessible, high-quality care.

From analysis to actionable recommendations

Evaluating the KSD program required an approach that was both broad and in-depth. We combined our expertise in stakeholder engagement, policy evaluation, and healthcare communication to create a complete picture.

Our approach focused on three parts:

  1. Document review – We analyzed policy and program documents to understand the context and objectives of KSD.

  1. Stakeholder dialogue – We conducted interviews with coordinators and project leaders, organized focus groups with professionals and client representatives, and leveraged existing events such as ZonMw’s annual roundtable day.

  1. Broad consultation – We launched a survey among clients and professionals to capture experiences and needs.

The biggest challenge? Bringing together diverse perspectives
from researchers to clientsinto one coherent narrative. The insights were synthesized into an evaluation report of the networks, a process evaluation of the program, and recommendations for the future. By bringing together diverse perspectives, we provided ZonMw and the Ministry of Health with tools to strengthen the knowledge infrastructure.
