ESG & Sustainability

Responsible procurement

New European regulations such as the CSDDD, EUDR and CSRD require companies to understand the sustainability risks within their entire value chain. Companies also want to proactively contribute to reducing negative impacts such as deforestation, human rights violations and climate change. Because value chains are often long and complex, and companies are active in many different chains, it is important to set priorities.

What we do

We help companies map product flows, identify and prioritise sustainability risks, identify the best measures to address those risks, and embed due diligence in their operations. We also offer practical support in implementing the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), the CSDDD, and other legal or market requirements in the chain.

the problem we solve

New legislation and regulations impose strict requirements on understanding and managing sustainability risks in the value chain. These risks can sometimes be found three or four links upstream. Due to a lack of transparency and traceability, it is usually difficult to determine what a company can do in practical terms to address these risks. Many companies struggle with this.

Our approach

Value chain risk analysis

  • Together, we map out product flows, with software support where necessary.
  • We identify sustainability risks based on our own expertise, stakeholder consultations and public data.
  • We prioritise based on impact, scope, irreversibility and probability.
  • We draw up a clear action plan to address risks.

Due diligence strategy

  • We follow the six steps set out in the OECD Guidelines, which form the basis for European legislation.
  • We map out what is already being done (such as deforestation policy, certification, social audits, etc.).
  • We help embed due diligence in policy and procedures.
  • We offer support with risk analyses, dialogue with suppliers, selection of measures and reporting.
  • We help set up a Code of Conduct or a complaints mechanism, for example.
  • We support or take care of communication about the risks that have been addressed.

European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

  • Explanation and guidance on compliance with the EUDR for operators and traders.
  • Identifying which products fall under the law.
  • Support in setting up due diligence files and communication with chain partners.
  • Training and development of communication and protocol materials for internal and external use.

the impact

  • Overview and control of the value chain.
  • Prioritisation of sustainability risks with a practical action plan to address risks.
  • A workable due diligence strategy, in line with legislation and regulations.
  • Clear guidance on compliance with the EUDR.
  • Improved cooperation with chain partners.
