‘The road to the Hague 2030’: kick-off for a more sustainable The Hague

On April 21st, newly appointed Hague alderman for sustainability Arjen Kapteijns shared his ambitions and plans for the future of the city at a special sustainability conference. Schuttelaar & Partners helped the municipality with the organization and content of the conference.

An inspiring evening

Kapteijns chose his home base, 'Brouwerij de Prael,' as the venue—a location with an inviting atmosphere where mentally challenged people work as waitstaff. With a warm welcome from the Schuttelaar team and a delicious piece of vegan apple pie, all 200 attendees were comfortably accommodated before take-off. The cozy venue made it easy for everyone to connect with each other and the municipality during the breakout sessions, and naturally at the bar during the drinks. The evening was structured with various speakers, sustainable initiatives, and musical art, under the direction of moderator Astrid Feiter.

Collaboration on four pillars of sustainability

In the breakout sessions, experts from the municipality engaged in conversations with attendees about the four pillars of the sustainable work agenda of the municipality of The Hague: mobility, living environment, energy transition, and circular economy. The municipality will use the collected feedback in an upcoming series of events to accelerate collaboration between parties in the city and work towards the municipal climate goals. This summer, the climate tables will be launched, where the parties will delve deeper into the content.
