Fundraising campaign for the Kledingbank Rotterdam Foundation

From March 11 to 15 it was Circular Economy Week. A week in which we focused on producing less waste and the principles of 'reduce, reuse, recycle'. During this week it was possible to throw clothes into a basket at our office at Zeestraat in The Hague. Don't dump, but dunk your clothes for a good cause. In this case for Stichting Kledingbank Rotterdam.

You may recognize it: clothes at the bottom of your closet, waiting to be worn. However, these items never see the light of day. Maybe you even have a bag of clothes that you wanted to sell on Vinted, for example. Our colleagues were given the option for a better destination for these items: donating to people who desperately need them. Giving your clothing a second life is not only circular and sustainable, it also helps the clothing banks of Rotterdam, which are currently facing a significant shortage.

The Clothing Bank Rotterdam Foundation collects good reusable clothing to make it available free of charge to people who (temporarily) have insufficient financial resources to clothe themselves and their children. Last year they helped more than 6,000 people! But now that the number of people needing help is growing and the shortage of donations is increasing, a contribution is more important than ever.

The volunteers of Kledingbank Rotterdam work together like a well-oiled machine to wash, iron, fold, sort and organize the collected clothing. Aida, location manager of Kledingbank Rotterdam-Delfshaven, proudly talks about the baby packages they put together and issue, and how they help customers with essential items for their summer and winter collections. De Kledingbank Rotterdam will open a third location this year. “It is desperately needed,” says Aida, “and I think everyone deserves to be able to dress modestly.”
