S&P is partner in SeRaMCo, an Interreg project on circular economy
S&P will lead the activities on ecosystem building for the Secondary Raw Materials for Concrete Precast Products (SeRaMCo) project, a € 7 million Interreg project aiming at uspscaling recycling of construction and demolition waste. This project is coordinated by the University of Kaiserslautern and involves in total 18 partners and subcontractors from the construction and demolition supply chain in North-West Europe.
High-quality recycling of construction and demolition waste
About 50% of primary raw materials in the EU are used in the building sector, which is also responsible for about one third of all wastes. This waste is mostly down-cycled to be used as filling materials in infrastructure projects. However, components like concrete, bricks, tiles and ceramics (CBTC) have high potential to be applied as recycled aggregates and sands. Therefore, SeRaMCo aims at upscaling high-quality recycling of CBTC, which enables the re-use of recycled materials.
Schuttelaar & Partners’ role
S&P coordinates the ecosystem building and the communication activities of the project. Its objective is to create and strengthen a sustainable ecosystem for the long-term application and appreciation in the supply chain of recycled construction and demolition waste products, by demonstrating their added-value in terms of environment protection and creation of new business opportunities.
In this context, S&P contributes with its core expertise: from market analysis, regulatory audit, business development plans, to communication strategy and the organization of the dissemination and communication activities at the internal and external level.
The SeRaMCo project is expected to start in June 2017. More information will follow in the coming months.
