According to WHO estimates, improving universal access to medicine could save 10 million lives each year. The Access to Medicine Index measures and ranks the efforts of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies to help solve the problem. Stakeholder dialogue: Issues in biotechnology
| Brussels-based EuropaBio is Europe’s largest association of biotechnology companies. At the organization’s annual Open Day, Schuttelaar & Partners set up a debate in which many participants, including NGOs and EC representatives, passionately discussed some of the sector’s key issues: public communication, biofuels’ impact on food, EU regulation and its effect on SMEs, and reimbursement of biotech drugs. » read EuropaBio’s report » watch the beginning of the debate |

Process management: Helping consumers make healthier choices

The Choices programme is a world-wide industry initiative set up to make the healthier choice the easy choice. It has introduced a simple front-of-pack stamp for food products that meet a set of qualifying criteria. Those criteria are designed by an independent scientific committee on the basis of international dietary guidelines. Schuttelaar & Partners has assisted in setting up the Choices International Foundation. Facilitate debate: EU regulation and free trade
| Sanitary and phytosanitary standards formulated by the European Union sometimes prove controversial in global trade. What’s more, the European Commission (EC) and Member States sometimes will read those standards differently. Project management: School feeding Initiative Ghana Netherlands (SIGN)

In the SIGN project, dozens of partners in Ghana and The Netherlands boost agricultural Ghanese markets by subsidizing school lunches that are locally produced. Schuttelaar & Partners brought together Dutch partners from the public as well as the private sector. For public affairs executives at leading multinational food and feed companies, Schuttelaar & Partners hosted a multi-day conference in Brussels to reflect on the industry's reputation and to identify the main issues facing it. Homing in on health and sustainable raw materials as dominant issues, the meeting enabled companies such as Unilever, Cargill, and Südzucker to adjust their long-term strategies early on. |
